Community Contribution: Blog 8- Feedback #2

Hey Jinwei,

I found your points interesting. While I understand that at times social media activism does not lead to real world change, I think it’s important to note that social media has proven to be a great source for spreading information. In this manner, even though there may not be many people actively fighting for “real world change” in person, at the very least a click on a like button or better yet the share button can help these social movements gain awareness and garner online engagement/ discussion. In my opinion, this in turn can create change as it could reach someone who has the power to help or perhaps the resources. In this social-media dominated world, I think we underestimate the power of that “thumbs up” button or a “re-tweet.”

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Sincerely,

Kathy
